Mission & Vision

"Mobilizing people and resources to deliver creative solutions to community problems."

Our Purpose:

  • Connect volunteers with opportunities to serve
  • Build capacity for effective local volunteer service
  • Promote Volunteerism
  • Lead and/or participate in strategic initiatives to mobilize volunteers to meet community needs
  • Serve as a central clearing house for volunteerism and as a resource center for non-profit agencies in Southwest Louisiana

The History of the Volunteer Center

The Volunteer Center of Southwest Louisiana was founded in 1988 as a project of the Junior League of Lake Charles.  Since that time it has served as the clearing house for volunteerism in our region.  Under the leadership of Shannon Dietz as Executive Director, the Volunteer Center is committed to providing opportunities to individuals, familes and businesses who want to improve their communities through volunteering.  We are excited to partner with you, so give us a call and let us meet with you on how we can help the process much easier for you. In 2017 we will be celebrating 30 years of service in the parishes of Calcasieu, Cameron, Jeff Davis, Allen and Beauregard parishes.
